MEMBERSHIP
The Bucks County Women’s Chorus is open to all women from high school age to senior citizens. You do not have to audition to be a part of the group, but you should possess basic pitch-matching skills. If you wish, your voice will be tested to determine which part you should sing. If you’ve been singing consistently and know your voice part, you don’t need to be tested. Voice parts include Soprano I, Soprano II, Alto I, and Alto II. Not all songs will be divided into 4 parts.
MUSIC
The Bucks County Women’s Chorus sings a variety of music. During the first portion of the season - from September through December - the music learned consists primarily of holiday selections so that we may perform for holiday events in December. Some music may be of a sacred nature, consistent with the Christmas and Hanukkah holidays. In January, members will receive a new packet of music that will consist of a large variety of genres. The music may or may not have a theme. All music choices will be at the discretion of the artistic director and will be appropriate for the skill level of the choir.
REHEARSALS
Rehearsals will take place each Monday evening from 7 to 9 pm beginning after Labor Day and ending in early to mid-June (depending on the concert schedule). During some years, those wishing to continue with rehearsals during the summer are invited to do so and will learn some pieces appropriate for a smaller ensemble. (Summer session is at the discretion of the director and will be held if interest is present.)
Rehearsals take place at:
Holland Village Retirement Community (Auditorium)
280 Middle Holland Road
Holland, PA 18966
Members should do their best to be at all rehearsals and to be on time for rehearsals as well, though it is certainly understood that “stuff happens”. There is no need to call if you’re going to be absent unless you will be missing rehearsals for several weeks in a row.
CONCERTS
We will make every attempt to limit concerts to Monday nights and weekends so as not to ask members to obligate another weeknight, but that is not guaranteed. Concerts are usually scheduled quite far in advance so that members can make appropriate plans to be present. Your attendance is essential to a good, balanced performance!
Concerts are exciting and we’ve performed in some wonderful places. However, we're always on the lookout for new opportunities, so please contact the director if you'd like to hire the group or you are familiar with a possible venue for the chorus.
REGISTRATION
You can register via the secure form found on the banner of this website. If you would like to join but finances are an issue, please contact our finance office at [email protected]. No one will be denied membership due to inability to pay.
